What comes in many flavours, is totally refreshing, is great for athletes, and is now an official sponsor of the OHF Tournament!?
BOOCH MEETS HOCKEY
Both are authentically Canadian.
Both are good for health.
Both are centered on community.
Both symbolic of healthy living, Booch and hockey have joined forces.
As avid hockey fans, the Booch team found this partnership to be equally as exciting as educational!
Founded in 1989, the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) hosts an annual three-day tournament that takes place at the end of the hockey season. Along with eight other locations across Ontario, London hosted the 2017 OHF Minor Hockey Championships, which took place earlier this year, from April 7 - 9, 2017.
Booch was the first time sponsor of the Major Midget division of the London Junior Knights, donating $500 in cash and $500 in kind through silent auction and product in support of this team of 16 - 17 year olds.
THE BOOCH IMPACT
Sarah Ruttan, the tournament’s Sponsorship Chair, said that having Booch available for coaches, volunteers, and players to drink during the tournament “brings awareness to the players and coaches about a healthy drink alternative.” Replacing sugary energy drinks for this raw, organic, authentic beverage is a way forward for health, energy, and mindfulness in the name of hockey.
About the importance of Booch’s product and business endeavours, Sarah told us:
“I for one am a huge fan and absolutely love Booch! Bringing them on board and approaching them was very self-serving for me — I wanted everyone to know how amazing this product is and how good for you it is and how incredibly local and homegrown it is as well. The Booch story is pretty cool too, and so inspiring for young entrepreneurs.”
The success Shannon Kamins, founder of Booch, has enjoyed as a young entrepreneur is inspiring for the young players who will soon be thinking about what paths to embark on as young adults.
“Hockey, like all sports, brings community together,” says Shannon. “It’s a place where people can come together, cheer, and celebrate in wins and triumphs.”
No matter how big the brand becomes, Booch will always be loyal to their roots and are humbled to know that the community recognizes that. Likewise, Sarah acknowledges how “showing London that Booch has not forgotten their roots is integral to anyone's success in business.”
THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNITY
Booch and the OHL intersect at the crossroads of community.
“Booch started small, and keeps its ‘small, local feel’ by continuing to do business the same way we did on the first day of inception,” continues Shannon. “Even though you can find our product in SOBEY’s, we still attend the Saturday Farmers Market—where it all began.”
Booch is more than just cracking a bottle and chugging…
- It's a community-centered product that tells the story of ‘farm to ferment.’
- It's a refreshing product that’s full of electrolytes for athletes, and promotes a strong functioning immune system.
- It’s great for everyone!
Likewise, Sarah acknowledges how hockey and the OHL Tournament is about more than hockey — it’s about community, “bringing players, families, coaches, and fans from four corners of Ontario together to celebrate the best of the best in this league.”
The Booch Team is so proud to have been involved in the OHF tournament and share their modern version of this ancient elixir with hockey families of Ontario and spreading our their values on collaboration, camaraderie, respect, and the importance of forging relationships and friendships.
